Ketorai

How we assign the verdict

Ketorai answers one question for each food: is it keto? The verdict is based on the net carbs of a real serving, not a fixed 100 g.

The rule

Yes≤ 5 g of net carbs per serving
~In moderation5 to 12 g — only in moderation
Noover 12 g — kicks you out of ketosis

Net carbs

net carbs = total carbs − fiber − sugar alcohols (never below 0)

Real serving

We use the typical serving (1 medium fruit, 1 cup, 1 tablespoon for condiments, 1 glass for drinks), because the verdict should reflect how food is actually eaten.

Data and sources

Nutrition values follow standard references, mainly the USDA FoodData Central database, adjusted to the real serving. Each entry shows its source and a confidence level (high / medium / low): when a value is an estimate or varies a lot between brands, we mark it with lower confidence instead of feigning precision.

How we use AI

To scale to hundreds of foods, a language model writes a first draft of each entry from those standard nutrition references, following strict rules (real serving, net-carb calculation and the thresholds above). Entries with uncertain data are marked medium or low confidence. We don't make up numbers: when the model isn't sure, confidence drops.
