Rules for drinking on keto
- Straight spirits are 0 g — the mixer is always the problem. Use soda water, zero-sugar soda or squeezed lime.
- Your body prioritizes metabolizing alcohol: fat-burning pauses while it's processed. Moderation.
- Keto lowers your tolerance: alcohol hits faster and harder. Pace yourself.
- Alternate every drink with water and add a pinch of salt — alcohol dehydrates and flushes electrolytes.
- Ask for the wine "dry" explicitly: sweet table wines can triple the carbs.
Estimates per typical serving. Alcohol pauses ketosis while it's metabolized. Not medical advice — drink responsibly.
